Obituary of A. Bruce Borgeson
Bruce Borgeson, 91, of Wyckoff, died on Friday, December 22, 2017. Born in New York, NY Bruce was a long time resident of Wyckoff.
He graduated Ridgewood High School in 1944, then he enlisted in the Army Air Corps, serving during World War II and attained the rank of Captain. After his active duty he attended and graduated from Lehigh University in 1949 where he played Hockey and Baseball and was a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity.
He began his career in Surety bonding in New York City and later Newark, NJ with Reliance Insurance. He was a member of the NASBP and IIANJ. He founded the Borgeson Agency in 1972 before retiring in 1996. He loved to travel, visiting both the North and South Poles as well as China, Egypt, Russia, Japan and Tahiti. He was a passionate golfer, a member of Upper Montclair Country Club. He was a supporter of both the Wyckoff and Hackensack YMCA. He was a member of the Wyckoff Reformed Church.
He is survived by his son Roy Borgeson and his wife Bethel of Wyckoff, NJ; daughter Judith Louzan and her husband Peter of New City, NY; five grandchildren: Luke Louzan, Christopher Louzan, and Henry Borgeson, Annie Borgeson and their mother Jill Lovecchio and Hannah Haas.
Also surviving are four nieces, Laura White McKail, Carolyn Widdoes, Pam Scheier and Dawn Fleck. Bruce was predeceased by his beloved wife of 56 years, Ruth in 2012.
The Borgeson family will have a gathering of family and friends on Thursday, December 28, 2017, 12 noon until 2:00 pm followed by a service at 2:00 pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Ave. Wyckoff, NJ.
