Obituary of Jacklyn Salerno

Jacklyn A. “Jackie” Salerno passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, October 1, 2018 at the age of 60. Born in Paterson,NJ she was a long time resident of Ridgewood before moving Franklin Lakes. She was a parishioner at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Ridgewood. Jackie was passionate about many things; primarily the raising of her two prized daughters.  She would always make sure they were dressed well especially on holidays.  She made sure they always had tutors to help them when they fell behind.  She made sure they had the finest education and was very proud of the final result.  Jackie was passionate about her cooking hobby and was an outstanding cook.  She loved decorating her home and always making sure it was in pristine order.  She loved her job and was a valued employee at the Professional Eye Care Associates in Paramus for 37 years.  Finally, she was “Nonna” to her beloved grandson, Harrison, whom she adored.  Harrison loved his Nonna completely in return.  Jackie was an exemplary mother, wife, sister and friend to many and she will be sorely missed. Jackie is survived by her loving husband of 37 years Robert A. Salerno; two cherished daughters Lisa L. Chang, her husband Joe; Lauren A MacKenzie, her husband Alex; grandson Harrison Chang; four sisters: Diane Francis, Rene Kelly, Colleen Velazquez, Francine Pohlod and a brother Edward Kelly. Jackie is predeceased by her parents John and Shirley and brother John Kelly. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 – 8:00 at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, (vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff. Jackie’s funeral mass will be celebrated  on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 1 Passaic St., Ridgewood, NJ 07450. Contributions in Jackie’s memory may be made to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Ridgewood.
